André Lauren Benjamin, better known by his stage name André 3000,

is an American rapper, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and actor, best known for being part of hip-hop duo OutKast alongside fellow rapper Big Boi

Andre "3000" Benjamin's mother Sharon Benjamin-Hodo has passed away, a representative for the musician and actor confirms to Billboard. 

 Benjamin-Hodo was the founder and guiding force of The Starlight Camp for underprivileged children, which she ran out of the New Morning Light Missionary Baptist Church in Conley, GA -- the church of her husband, Pastor Robert Hodo.

According to unconfirmed reports, she was found dead in her Atlanta home on what was her son’s 38th birthday.

 In lieu of flowers, continued support of The Starlight Camp is appreciated by the family, Benjamin’s spokesperson notes.
